Holiday travelers rejoice! At least if you're flying Continental, Southwest or US Airways.
Port Columbus International Airport kicked off phase 1 of its new inline baggage screening system Nov. 8. An official media demo is set for Nov. 10.
The new automated system eliminates the need for passengers to haul their checked bags to screening machines in the terminal lobby before heading to the security checkpoint. Instead, bags travel via conveyor belts through explosives detection system machines.
According to airport spokeswoman Angie Tabor, all other airlines at CMH will begin using the system in January.
