If coworkers and business colleagues are on your gift-giving list, it can be a challenge to give something that's thoughtful but not too personal.

Enter the Center for Social Enterprise Development with its new one-stop shop for gifts and services that generate social impact. Shop Social Cbus provides links to 18 local companies and organizations that offer unique gifts while supporting meaningful missions and charitable causes. From the Eat Purr Love Cat Café to cleaning services, the website marketplace promises to continue to grow sections from the 90+ social enterprises it has identified across central Ohio.

Inspiration for personal and professional development is a gift everyone can use. One place to find it will be the Women for Economic and Leadership Development 2017 Keynote to be delivered Mar. 30 by Margie Warrell, a best-selling author and expert on courage. Tickets for the event are already on sale. Warrell's books and presentations advocate for the unique potential of every individual.

When other ideas fall short, there's always food. The 4th Annual Hocking Hills Comfort Food Cruise offers an excuse to take a winter road trip to 12 southeast Ohio restaurants over the last three weekends of January. An $18 ticket is good to try one comfort food at each of the dozen restaurants, with $5 of each ticket benefitting local food banks. The rolling hills are good for business getaways or family drives.

Local options also abound for business groups and individuals who want to help make the holidays brighter for those less fortunate.

The YWCA is accepting $25 gift cards for homeless children served by its Family Center through Dec. 19. Franklin County Children Services makes online giving easy for its annual Holiday Wish program benefitting more than 6,000 children who have experienced abuse and neglect. The Columbus Foundation offers Spirit of Columbus Charitable Gift Cards in varied denominations to support a choice of 630 central Ohio nonprofits, as well as its PowerPhilanthropy site for online charitable contributions.

However you give, chances are you'll find it's good for business.
