Propel Marketing and the Dispatch Media Group are offering two free educational sessions on Oct. 7 to help businesses ramp up marketing by connecting with Google. The morning session is for small business owners and those new to digital marketing. The afternoon session will help those with established digital marketing campaigns.

The Women's Small Business Accelerator presents Sonesta International Hotels Corporation CEO and President Stephanie Sonnabend to keynote its Starting the Conversation conference on Oct. 27 at the Renaissance Hotel. The event marks the fourth anniversary of the Westerville-based WSBA as well as National Women's Small Business Month.

Columbus is ranked best big city in the Midwest by Money for having strong job growth, affordable housing, good schools, low crime and great quality of life-all making for great opportunity for business growth as well. Having the headquarters here of global fashion retailer Abercrombie & Fitch helped boost Columbus into that top ranking.

Online retailer zulily also likes the opportunity it has realized in Columbus. With its recently opened an expanded Gahanna office, the Seattle-based company has invested more than $30 million and employs more than 1,250 in central Ohio.

The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio is excited about its opportunity to reach its $100 million fundraising goal, thanks to the commitment announced recently by Gahanna financial advisor Jeff Chaddock and his partner, Mark Morrow, to leave 97 percent of their estate to the Foundation.

Even craft breweries have found great opportunity in central Ohio. Granville-based Homestead Beer Co. was recently honored with the Outstanding American Manufacturer Small Business Award presented by Sam's Club. Cheers!
