Honda responds to negative Fit crash test rating by looking to the future. From a statement released this week:
Honda has an all-new, completely redesigned 2015 Honda Fit that will come to market in just a few months and we anticipate it will earn top safety scores from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), with a "Good" rating in all test modes including the rigorous small overlap front crash test. We also expect the 2015 Fit to earn the highest possible 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). With these top test results, we intend to demonstrate that small cars can deliver outstanding crash test performance.
We have a long history of leadership in the development and application of advanced technologies and designs which has resulted in Honda leading the industry in third party crash test ratings with more vehicles rated TOP SAFETY PICK and TOP SAFETY PICK+ by the IIHS than any other manufacturer, including the most vehicles that earn a "Good" rating in the IIHS small overlap front test.
The safety of our customers is of great importance to Honda, and we will continue to introduce advanced safety technologies in the future to enhance the safety of our customers and others on the road.
