Orthopedic Firms Finalize Merger

Posted by Julanne Hohbach on August 5, 2013

The previously announced merger of two of Central Ohio’s largest orthopedic group practices now has a closing date and a new name.

The Cardinal Orthopaedic Institute and Ohio Orthopedic Center of Excellence will merge effective Oct. 1 as Orthopedic ONE. According to the practices, the deal will create the state’s largest privately owned orthopedic practice.

“Our new brand is certainly reflective of two organizations becoming one, but it also embodies our shared vision, to place the patient at the center of all we do,” said Dr. Joel Politi in a news release. “The ‘one’ is not a reference to our size or standing, instead it speaks to our mission, which is to make the patient our number one priority.”

The groups will phase in the new brand through various marketing efforts. Existing phone numbers and websites will not change. A new website at will provide merger updates and condensed information.

Combined, the groups now have 54 physician partners, 76 physical and occupational therapists, more than 450 clinical and administrative employees and 12 locations.

In the August issue of Columbus CEO, the Cardinal Orthopaedic Institute was ranked in the No. 1 spot on the Central Ohio Orthopedic Group Practices Leaderboard. The Ohio Orthopedic Center of Excellence was ranked No. 2.
