MILLERSBURG — Seven members of the West Holmes FFA competed at State FFA Convention as State Proficiency Finalists on May 4. As finalists, the members are in the top four FFA members in the state in their respective proficiency award areas.

State Proficiency Finalists placed first or second in the district evaluations and were named finalists after state evaluations in February. They then traveled to the State FFA Convention where they were evaluated during an interview process.

Earning state placings were: Agricultural Processing, Logan Schlauch, fourth and Home/Community Development, third; Beef Production Placement, Chris Vansickle, fourth; Dairy Production Entrepreneurship, John Hughes, first; Dairy Production Entrepreneurship, Chase Stitzlein, third; Diversified Horticulture, Drew Mast, third; Nursery Operations, Marissa Lamp, third; Swine Production Entrepreneurship, Taylor Feikert, fourth.

Hughes earned the opportunity to compete at the national level this summer.
