The two large organizations are combining strengths to reach a greater number of those in need.

The Healthy Communities Partnership’s overall purpose is to transform the health of individuals and communities by expanding prevention and wellness programs. The partnering organizations, YMCA and OhioHealth, have no shortage of resources and reach to contribute to the effort.

The YMCA and OhioHealth had already been working together for several years to provide wellness and prevention programs for their respective associates, and now programming will expand to communities. As part of the new initiative, the Y is offering chronic disease prevention and maintenance programming at 13 locations throughout the region. Other programs within the initiative include disease-specific wellness programs, such as one for bone health and one for individuals with multiple sclerosis.

Future programming for the multi-year partnership will focus on diabetes prevention, programs for patients with neurological disease and a transition program for OhioHealth cardiac rehab patients.
