The city of Whitehall adds 'My Home' to a list of transformational decisions for its community.
Huntington Bank and the City of Whitehall are partnering again to offer the ‘My Home’ Down Payment Assistance Program to potential homebuyers in Whitehall. ‘My Home’ offers $60,000 to qualified buyers for payments of 4 percent of the purchase price (up to $5,000) on Whitehall homes.
Whitehall Mayor Kim Maggard says, since 2014, the city has received dozens of requests to reinstate the ‘My Home,’ which was first introduced in 2012. Since then, more than $250,000 has been invested in down payment assistance. In its first run, the program gave 72 homeowners an average of $3,368 in assistance. From 2012 to 2016, the average sale price of a home in Whitehall increased by 29.2 percent.
Huntington will also be partnering with local Housing Counseling Agencies to provide homebuyer education that will prepare mortgage applicants for purchasing a home.
“The City of Whitehall has taken a comprehensive approach to renewing and transforming its entire community under the leadership of Mayor Maggard and her administration,” said Huntington Bank Central Ohio President Sue Zazon. “A thriving residential population and strong neighborhoods are essential for ensuring an inclusive and vibrant community. By embracing innovative public/private partnerships like the ‘My Home’ Program, the City of Whitehall is making a lasting difference—and Huntington is proud to play a role in helping people.”
